Current Responsibility
Jan is the Director of Marketing and Operations at Strategic Health Management Corporation, since joining SHM in 2005. SHM is a consulting firm specializing in Long Term Care Insurance (LTCI) since 1986. Her current responsibilities include bringing new LTCI concepts to marketing organizations and insurers, as well as consulting with them on their existing LTCI products. She looks forward to working to improve the percentage of the population insured against the catastrophic costs of long term care services through product design enhancements in the LTCI market.

Experience
Jan was President of the AEGON LTC Division since it was segmented as a separate division of AEGON in 1991. She was involved with the company’s LTCI line of business since it started sales in 1987. Although her initial responsibility was the actuarial work for LTCI, after becoming President of the division she was involved with all aspects of the business, including product development, sales and marketing, underwriting, claims, and all other management and administrative issues.

While with AEGON, Jan was involved with creating many of the innovative features in LTCI products. These included married discount pricing, joint waiver benefit, survivorship benefit, variations of joint policies, and flexible benefit modularized policies. She has been actively supportive of major developments in the LTCI market, such as tax qualified and comprehensive policies.

Jan was a career-long AEGON employee and prior to the position of President of AEGON’s LTC Division, Jan was Senior Vice President and Actuary for health and LTC products. She also held various other actuarial positions in both life and health insurance in AEGON USA.
